25 July 2010

It's been a busy three days!

Wow! It seems like yesterday we were meeting for the shakedown weekend, now we are here and about to depart for the 2010 National Jamboree!

We have had an amazing three days action-packed, exciting touring in Washington, D.C. and in Baltimore.

We drove an uneventful night from Memphis and arrived in Washington around lunch-time on Friday. Since then, we have visited the Capitol, photo-op-ed at the White House, visited the World War II and Vietnam Memorials, and been rained out of a Baltimore Orioles game (it was OK, they weren’t playing that well)…

Scouts from Troop 1805 have had the opportunity to visit several Smithsonian Museums, including the Museum of American History, the Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Air and Space, and the American Indian Museum.

All of the Scouts are having a great time and really seem to be enjoying the history that our nation’s capitol has to offer. Michael S., Shane H., Andrew Z., and Patrick H, our youth leadership team, is doing wonderfully, making sure all of the Scouts are on time and well-behaved.

The adult leaders are all having a wonderful time, thanks to our well-mannered Scouts and great tour! We would just like to say “thanks” for making this such a wonderful experience so far!

Tomorrow, Monday morning, we will depart our posh hotel in Arlington for Ft. A.P. Hill, Virginia, around one hour away. Upon arrival, we will officially be at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree. Youth and adults alike are excited to celebrate the Centenary of the Scouting program in the United States with what is sure to be an awesome Jamboree!

Tomorrow we leave where so much history has been made to be a part of history being made; tomorrow we begin the celebration of 100 years of Scouting!...and we cannot wait!

Until next time…

Yours in Scouting,

Johnny Tracy

p.s. We will try to update on a regular basis and we hope to have capabilities to upload pictures in the near future, so, stay tuned…
